ABOUT THE ROLE
Amsted Automotive Group, Powder Metal in Geneva, IL is looking for a Sorter to perform duties to efficiently and effectively visually sort parts, process parts through attribute and variable gages, and correctly move parts to the next location on the 2nd shift.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
All the duties described below must be followed based on the corresponding work instructions and process specifications.

1. Inspect parts visually for a large variety of known defects.
2. Inspect parts using attribute and variable gages.
3. Discern between good parts, defective parts, and suspect parts.
4. Seek help when suspect and defective parts are detected.
5. Load and unload parts as required.
6. Accurately record and report quantities processed.
7. Utilize forklift to move and sort material as required.
8. Perform necessary recordkeeping and paperwork, including computer data entry.
9. Seek help if problems arise and ask questions if directions are not understood.
10. Use various testing devices, chemicals and material moving equipment according to appropriate guidelines and procedures.
11. Adhere to AAG material identification and tagging procedures.
12. Be willing to participate in training sessions related to this position and safety.
13. Follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
14. Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
15. Be responsible and accountable for the professional use of assigned work periods, machinery, equipment and tools.
16. Understand and perform to the AAG Quality Policy taking pride in the products produced.
17. Support and participate in the departmental structure of self-directed work teams.
18. Participate in team problem solving as part of the departmental continuous improvement process.
19. Train and assist other employees as required.
20. Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.Must successfully complete the pre-hire math test.
Experience:
Previous experience working in an industrial environments is helpful but not required.
Skills & Knowledge:
Visual acuity, manual dexterity, metal alertness and forklift operation.
Supervisory Responsibility:
None

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust and dirt. Full-time position.Will require some overtime and weekend hours.
